In the midst of the storm

You’re silently screaming in a crowded room. People offer clichés to try to comfort you. Simple pleasantries like, “I know you’ll make it through this.” or “You can do so much better than him/her.”, but your ears are ringing too loud for their words to even come close to your heart. Nobody could ever be able to know the pain you are feeling right now. The inner storm rages on.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.   -Proverbs 3:5-6

As time marches on the rain lets up, but you are left with a question. The sun is peaking through the clouds, and each day is brighter than the last; every morning it is easier to get out of bed. You have more hope, more optimism, and more confidence that you will persevere and that the brightest days of your life are still ahead of you. But the question remains. “Why did God let this happen to me?”

He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares theLord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand.   -Jeremiah 18:6

God is shaping us. He is molding us. He is forming us into the men and women he needs for us to be. How do you make a fire grow stronger? You blow on it. You fan the flames and they will flicker, but the end result is a fire that burns stronger and brighter.  It’s nearly impossible to see his reasons in the midst of the storm, but he is always with you, protecting you. Whether you can feel it or not, he will ALWAYS have his arms wrapped tightly around you.
