How bad is it really?

“I spilled my coffee, I had a flat tire, I was 30 minutes late to work, I forgot to bring my lunch, the copy machine destroyed my expense report, got home and my dog had eaten my favorite pair of shoes and to top it all off, I burned the lasagna for the dinner party. Ugh, I don’t even know why I try anymore. I just want to throw in the towel. WORSE. DAY. EVER!”   -Random Facebook Friend

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.   Colossians 3:2

Tortured and beaten, he drags the cross to the site of his own death. Crown of thorns digging into his skin, he stumbles through the dirt with the last shred of energy he has left, all the while with whips snapping at his back. Lifted up in the air, and tied to the beams,  Iron is pierced through his flesh. The pain: Unimaginable. The son of God, the most innocent man to ever walk the face of this planet, has been executed by man.

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.   -Luke 23:24

We all have struggles that we face every day. They can stack up against us and make us feel so defeated, but how bad do we really have it? Are we still breathing? Are we still in relatively good health? Are we still blessed with friends and loved ones? Today, lets reflect on what is going on in our lives. Really evaluate our situation. I’d be willing to bet you have more going for you than you have going against you. Let’s take time today to remind ourselves what Jesus did for us. He gave his life so that we could have salvation. So that we could be forgiven by his father for all of our sins and trespasses. So that we could walk with him in the Kingdom of Heaven.
