Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. -1 Peter 5:8
We’ve all seen videos of people interacting with dangerous animals like they are common house pets. The man who chose to live with bears, or the guy that walks around with and plays with lions. One wrong move would be certain death, but still they risk their lives every day; poking and tempting the beast that could destroy them in an instant.
But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. -2 Corinthians 11:3
Often people toy with the devil in the same manner. He will allow us to play for a while and feel like everything is fine, but make no mistake, his aim will always be to devour us. The devil is a tempter. He draws us in with things that seem harmless and pleasurable, but in truth they are nothing more than spiritual poison. Sin in it’s very nature is designed to break down and weaken our faith. To eat away at our relationship with God. To destroy our chance of salvation.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. -James 4:10
We’ve all done things that we are not proud of, but because of what Christ did for us on the cross, we all have a chance. If we go to God and sincerely ask for forgiveness, it will be granted. We must do everything in our power to resist the devil’s temptation. The only path he will lead you down ends in sure destruction. Like grandma always said, “If you play with fire long enough, your going to get burned.”. Likewise, If you dance with the devil long enough, he is going to consume your soul.
